Via Monte Napoleone, built following the ancient route of the Roman walls, which in turn followed the course of the Seveso River, which still flows under the road surface on the odd-numbered side of the street, was indicated on city maps until the 18th century as Contrada di Sant'Andrea or Contrada delle sbarre di Sant'Andrea.
